Adidas has been working hard lately to bring together creatives from all reaches of the world and pushing them towards their peak of design, whether graphic or physical. The most influential include names like Kanye West, Rich the Kid, and even Pharrell Williams. Pharrell being the most well known for introducing new silhouettes such as samples, friends and family pairs, as well as releasing certain designs for retail. Adidas has also taken to using creativity as a slogan to help fight inequality with it’s “Here to Create” campaign taking it’s own shot at bringing down the gender barrier.
Musical ties with this sneaker exist in Lil Uzi Vert’s “Neon Guts” featuring Pharrell Williams. In this song, both artists speak about the comfort they have in the differences they wear on their sleeve. Both Uzi and Pharrell admitted ot trying to represent what .not thinking about any kind of rules” sounds like, as Pharrell has admitted to doing with this new jump into the fashion world. The most blatant connection they share is the obvious theme of having a colorful aura, the shoe being comprised of a rainbow’s worth of different colored stitching.
Pharell has only recently begun to move past his purely positive image of trying to teach kids the perfect way to live their lives with the release of new music and couture that bring light to the harder messages of society. Through this expansion of publicized character new sides to fashion have come out, fighting the more plain and monochrome-based designs from bigger names in fashion such as Balenciaga. Adidas has been pushing the envelope in this field for years, collaborating with several designers like Alexander Wang and Raf Simons.
