Pleasures is a brand that originally comes from LA, which is very common in this day and age. However they stand out with their new takes on graphic design and by bringing in normally out-casted images and representations from youth and making it into a wearable product. The brand mainly focuses on the grunge and addiction aspects of LA street style and culture, sometimes branching into more controversial designs such as emblazoning Kurt Cobain’s suicide note on to a t-shirt.
The addiction based theme of this piece is very similar to the theme of the infamous XO Tour Llif3, in which Lil Uzi Vert details his varied addictions to help with the loss of loved ones and friends. In the song Uzi details his use of narcotics and other addictive drugs in order to find the pleasurable parts of his life. obviously this is a common theme in the combination of the design in this tee and the brand itself.
Uzi has made several different approaches to fashion, popularizing newer Prada sneakers, endorsing Off-White, and even being seen in exotic clothing among artists and creatives such as Rich the Kid, Ian Connor, and even Virgil Abloh, one of the main contributors to the visuals for XO Tour Llif3 and a friend of Uzi’s. Uzi is also a very close with Playboi Carti, a frequent endorser of Pleasures gGrunge-based designs.
